Is Evolution your typical show bull? – No
He is a calving ease bull, who matures relatively early
instead of the frame 8-9 giants that are late maturing, however what sets him
apart is a unique combination of proven calving ease, high growth rates and
muscle expression.
In April 2012 he was:
Weight: 1043kg
Eye Muscle Area: 140cm
Rib (P8) Fat: 8mm
Rump Fat: 15mm
Muscle Score: B+
His marbling is more than adequate with an EBV of 1.4% (top 20%) for consideration as a
sire for the feedlots, however I put the challenge out there, is there a better
bull that will:
- allow
you to sleep through the night during calving,
- produce progeny that will perform
in the paddock on grass, and
- provide
you with that slick black coat and consistent visual muscling that will give you
a premium at the sale yards.
Evolution has small quite unremarkable calves, but they very lively and
some of the earliest to start running with their mothers.
However you should see the difference two or three weeks
makes. Almost universally these calves stand out next to their contemporaries due
to their thickness, muscling and depth of body.
My explanation for this is that the average gestation period
for Evolution's calves is very short, which appears to be correct for those
animals that we have exact joining dates for. However it will not be until we
start using Evolution in AI programs will this be known for sure. Evolution’s
full brother was also one of the shortest gestation bulls we have ever bred.
Dragon Breath calves born
during 2012
Evolution’s calves average birth weight– 31.5 kg
Evolution’s birth weight range – 24kg – 38kg
Other sires calves average birth weight – 37.9kg
Other sires birth weight range – 30kg – 46kg
That 6.4kg less on average and 8kg less for the heaviest
calf.

Evolution is the outcross bull that will work with just
about every straight angus or cross breed herd in Australia.
What he does provide is proven sires and dams from
Australasia with a family tree that includes the Black Gold Champagne, Banquet
Dream, Lawsons and Yathabrae dams that go back to GAR Sleep Easy and sires like
the New Zealand super star Hingaia 469 and the best Banquet has to offer.
EBV's
Evolution is also No. 1 EBV herdbook sire by Banquet Bundy
(out of over 350 registered progeny) for the Heavy Grass Fed Steer Index and
Short Feed Domestic Index as well as No.1 for Carcase Weight and in the top 3

Compared to his sire Banquet Bundy B002, Evolution provides greater calving ease, improved growth, muscling and marbling.
